Raw Day 40

A couple of days ago I was talking with a co-worker of mine about my raw food endeavor, and grumbling about the general lack of progress with Leia and her teeth. Leia refuses to chew anything…unless it belonged to another dog and she managed to take it.
I’ve come to the conclusion after brushing my dogs teeth twice a day for 40 days straight that nothing is going to work on getting the dog’s teeth clean.
“Well of course the toothbrush isn’t going to work!” My co-worker said. She glanced around conspiratorially. “You have to use an electric toothbrush if you want the gunk to come off.”
The whole point of this food trial is to keep an open mind, and so dutifully I got an electric toothbrush with Leia in mind. It’s an Oral-B, in case anyone thinks I’m a cheap skate.
Leia couldn’t care less about the fact that the toothbrush vibrates, and allowed me to thoroughly scrub every tooth from the very back molar to the very front teeth quite thoroughly, though I admit I didn’t spend the full two minutes on it. When I was finished, the opposite canine of the one I am currently photographing was clean except for a faint yellow stain along the top. It’s the only tooth that appears to have changed but…omg! Something happens!
So weird note to the world, electric toothbrushes appear to be beneficial in removing plaque and tartar. At least, if you happen to have a chihuahua named Leia anyway.
