February Walking Tally

I’ve taken to walking the dogs 2 at a time now instead of all 4 at once, and have found that I can go much farther in a walking session when I don’t have to handle 3 (grown up, intelligent, obedient) dogs in one hand and the puppy in the other. I love Tank very much, but he is still most certainly a puppy and walking him is a bit like walking a 3 pound butterfly. He is here, he is there, he is getting stepped on, he is bouncing a foot in the air each stride…calm down already!
I take Sandy with him because she is a bit too reliant on Leia and Rocco, and I want her to learn she doesn’t need them with her to feel safe. Walking the puppy is really tiring, but happily he thinks so too and is content to work on a bone or something while I grab the next two and take them out. Leia and Rocco are perfect on leash. They don’t pull, they don’t stop unless they need to poop, and they stay on what ever side I put them on unless specifically instructed to do otherwise. Walking them takes no effort, and I feel recovered from the puppy walk by the time I bring them back. Coincidentally, using this method I walk farther, and so do the dogs.
We walked – Are you ready for this? 27.13 MILES!!
That’s almost a mile a day. I’ve been really sick the past few days and haven’t been walking, but I feel a lot better today and hope to get those miles rolling again.
